Motion and design are constantly evolving fields, but most creative teams rely on tutorials for skill growth instead of real, open-ended briefs. I initiated Deep Thoughts in 2016 at .MONKS as a bimonthly in-house passion project designed to encourage experimentation and animation innovation.
DeepThoughts invites animators across MediaMonks offices worldwide to explore visual ideas through a shared theme and color palette. Over the course of 25 episodes, more than 150 collaborators used this safe sandbox to grow their skill sets, strengthen their portfolios, and experiment with new techniques and styles.
After more than 25 episodes and with the participation of over 150 global collaborators, DeepThoughts has served as a catalyst for improving the portfolios of our talented artists. This project has become a global safe sandbox where staff members can freely experiment and try out new ideas.

Play Became Culture
As the series evolved, it also became a creative icebreaker with clients. It served as a visual showcase of our evolving skills and a reflection of the studio’s culture of curiosity and collaboration.
